1 von 36 römisch numerierten Exemplaren der Vorzugsausgabe auf handgeschöpftem Maillol-Kessler-Seide-Papier, mit einer zweiten Folge sämtlicher Holzschnitte in Röteldruck, jeweils monogrammiert und unter Passepartout montiert. Der Titel und die Initialen stammen von Eric Gill. - "A classical spirit pervades the finished volume, from the harmonious composition of the type to the slightly archaic grace of the figures." EINBAND: Handgebundener brauner Orig.-Lederband mit goldgeprägtem Rückentitel und Kopfgoldschnitt sowie Orig.-Halbleder-Kassette. 32,5 : 24 cm. - ILLUSTRATION: Mit 43 Orig.-Holzschnitten sowie einer monogrammierten Extrasuite von Aristide Maillol. - ZUSTAND: Vereinzelt geringfügig stockfl., Rücken mit kl. Schabspur; insgesamt schönes sauberes Exemplar. - PROVENIENZ: Süddeutsche Privatsammlung.

One of the main works of the Weimar Cranach-Press in de-luxe make. 1 of 36 Roman numbered copies of the de-luxe edition. Hand-bound brown orig. calf binding with gilt-lettered spine and top edge gilt, as well as orig. half calf case. With 43 orig. woodcuts and a monogrammed extra suite from Aristide Maillol. - Minor isolated foxmarks, spine with a small scratch; all in all well-preserved copy.
